A dream comes true

I've hustled, leapt into voids, taken risks, saved my money ... and now there is this.

Hello!

✨ Today something very exciting is happening in my life. ✨

For about 20 years I have longed to have my own retreat, surrounded by nature, where I can seek peace, quiet and solitude—a place to write my words.

For many years that longing was assuaged by the fact that I had access to a cabin owned by my father and his wife, along with two other families. They divided up the time between them, and there were often long stretches when no one was using it, at which time I was welcome to stay there.

Yet the time came when the cabin had to be sold. I took my last leave with great sadness … I had written parts of all my books there, and experienced so many magical moments. I mean …

It was such a privilege to be able to stay at that cabin, and yet I always longed for a place that was my very own—where I had my stuff waiting for me, and to which I could go whenever I wanted, even at short notice.

And now … I do.

I went and did it! I bought myself a cabin in the countryside, my own perfect retreat, a place to unwind, to think … and to write. ✍️ ✨

I take possession today.

And I just have to tell you … I’m so damn proud of myself. I’ve worked HARD for this. I’ve hustled. I’ve taken risks. I’ve built something, all on my own, with my words, my vision, my efforts. I’ve saved my money until I could do this. No one came along and handed me the funds. This is the result of many years of work, of putting myself out there, trying different things and letting go of others.

What once seemed unattainable is now becoming real.

But of course I haven’t done it all on my own. Lots of people have helped me. First and foremost my husband, my greatest champion, always ready and willing to help in whatever way he can—whether it be designing my books, lifting boxes, making deliveries, driving around the country with me as I visit retailers and replace display copies, or whatever.

But this was not his dream—he has his own. So I set out to do this on my own, with my own money, that I have earned myself.

And of course, none of this would have happened without all the wonderful people who buy my books or my courses, or pay for a subscription to this newsletter. 🫶
