Today is the First Day of Summer here in Iceland, and the above greeting, “happy summer!”, is what we Icelanders say to one another on this day. ☀️

The First Day of Summer is celebrated on the Thursday between April 19 and 25 each year, and is usually a complete misnomer, as it is almost always freezing.
