Góðan daginn!
Today’s letter is me plugging away at the questions I received during my AMA a couple of weeks ago … apologies to those who have had to wait for their answers!
Three more questions are still pending—and two of those come from my lovely daughter Aldís Amah. I know what you are thinking: classic Icelandic nepotism, jumping the queue and getting her questions answered for free. Not so! Aldís actually insisted (much to her mother’s bewilderment) on becoming a paid subscriber to this newsletter so she could take advantage of the AMA and ask me questions that she could have asked me at any time by simply picking up her phone. But she chose to do it this way because she’s the best 🥰 (and also very well brought up).
Her questions:
What is the easiest and what is the hardest thing about keeping up a newsletter like this?
and
Oh also how do you find the inspiration yo write all the time!
Asking for a friend… 😬
(For those of you who don’t know my daughter co-wrote the script to Black Sands, which she also stars in, so it’s not like she’s a novice in the writing department. Also, have you seen her showreel? It’s awesome.)
All right, the second question comes from Georges, who writes:
I am interested in taking icelandic language lessons "in situ" in Reykjavík in May and part of June 2024. I … am curious to see if I could find a local teacher, who would preferably be not outrageously expensive and free for sort of an intensive course...if possible one on one.
Excellent question! I know that many folks are fascinated by the Icelandic language and wish to learn it—and happily there are a number of places for doing so.
